Staying at home means leaving your motorcycle unused. For the longevity of your motorbike, proper check-up and maintenance is a must. By doing this, you’re also ensuring that it will work well once you are one the road again. Your income might have been affected due to COVID-19, so here are inexpensive ways to keep your motorcycle in good condition. Engine Warm-Up
As you sit on your couch longer than usual, your motorcycle might be sitting ‘cold’ in your driveway. Warming up your bike is the first step to keeping it maintained. Start your bike and leave the engine running for at least 30 seconds until the engine is warm enough. Warming up the engine will heat the oil and fuel and allow it to move around. Check Your Chains When the chains of your motorcycle are dry or rusty, it puts you at risk. Check your chains’ condition by placing your motorbike up on a stand and spinning the wheel slowly. To prevent the chain from being rusty, apply a suitable lubricating oil. Although it is advisable to do this after a ride, lubricate your chain after warming up your engine instead. Doing this allows the oil to penetrate all parts of the string. Tires and Wheels The condition of your motorcycle’s tires and wheels are essential. Make sure that you inflated the tires in the correct amount of pressure. A properly inflated tire will last longer and avoids blowouts. Check if you assembled the wheel bearings and weights correctly as it can fall off and cause. Test Drive Drive your motorcycle inside the village or around your neighborhood at least once. Although this is optional, it will give you an overall idea of your motorcycle's performance as you spot anything unusual. And test all controls while driving slowly. Conclusion How you operate your motorcycle goes a long way in keeping it safe and keeping your costs low while getting the most out of your rides. Continue to have fun on the road when quarantine and social distancing is over. Taking good care of your motorbike also keeps you away from danger. Apply for insurance to continue keeping your expenses down in case of an emergency. Motorcycle insurance covers damage for the bike itself, its accessories, your riding gear, your medical payments, and even those you might have injured. Thanks for pointing out that a motorcycle's tires and wheels need to be properly inflated to avoid blowouts. This is helpful because my husband and I will be going on a road trip next weekend to relax and unwind. We are hoping to find a shop on Monday that can offer a black Ducati motorcycle for us at a competitive rate.
